DJI Phanton 2 Vision: Portable power review – keep phone and range extender topped up on your drone

February 21, 2014

If you’re out and about flying the last thing you want is for your range extender or phone to run out of power, rendering your Phantom 2 Vision… well, just a Phantom 2! Here’s a quick review of a product I use and find to be excellent – the Ravpower Power Bank 14000mAh edition: Amazon UK Amazon US (available elsewhere, too, so shop around). If you can get it for near £30 then that’s a good deal. There’s anecdotal evidence out there that the range extender will not give you best wifi performance unless it is at or very close to 100% charge, so this is a way of keeping it there.

It weighs 300g and carries plenty of juice, it has two USB outputs, one at 1A one at 2A and even a built-in torch, for all your night flying needs. 😉

I bought it from Amazon in the UK who also offer it in white to match your Phantom transmitter!

My “On the Kitchen Table” videos are mainly aimed at newcomers to multirotors, quadcopters, drones and UAVs, particularly to the DJI product range, and the Phantom line in particular. I have how to’s, product reviews, tips, tricks, hints and information for beginners and those in the early stages of the hobby. I film “on the kitchen table” to show people that, like me, you don’t need a workshop and an array of specialist equipment and years of experience to get started and progress with flying these amazing aircraft and enjoying making great aerial videos and stills. So if you have bought, or are thinking of buying, a DJI Phantom, Phantom FC40, Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+ or Plus, or even building your own DJI Flamewheel F450 or F550, we can do it… on the kitchen table!
