DJI Phantom 2 Vision: How to install Horizon FPV antennas to increase video & transmitter range

March 2, 2014

ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK! As promised, here’s a “how to” for installing the HorizonFPV antennas (or any other range improving antennas) onto your transmitter and range extender for the DJI Phantom 2 Vision quadcopter drone. This isn’t the only way of doing it, but it’s the way I did things and I didn’t manage to break anything! Coming soon – range testing results… was it worth it?!

If you are looking to improve the range or stability of your wifi signal for FPV / camera preview then this could be a good solution, as could the 5.8 control antenna for people like me who were getting less range than others seem to be getting (1000ft in my case instead of the reported 1500 to 2000ft others who live in more wide open places have been able to achieve).

All the actual antenna hardware, as well as the antennas themselves, came from who have dedicated Phantom 2 Vision and Phantom 2 product ranges offering a variety of transmitter and aircraft of antennas.

Coming soon – the range test, did it work?! Find out here:

My “On the Kitchen Table” videos are mainly aimed at newcomers to multirotors, quadcopters, drones and UAVs, particularly to the DJI product range, and the Phantom line in particular. I have how to’s, product reviews, tips, tricks, hints and information for beginners and those in the early stages of the hobby. I film “on the kitchen table” to show people that, like me, you don’t need a workshop and an array of specialist equipment and years of experience to get started and progress with flying these amazing aircraft and enjoying making great aerial videos and stills. So if you have bought, or are thinking of buying, a DJI Phantom, Phantom FC40, Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+ or Plus, or even building your own DJI Flamewheel F450 or F550, we can do it… on the kitchen table!
