I just rediscovered this, dated 1st November 2013 – one of the first consumer flights in the UK of the Phantom 2 Vision (I got it the day after the first shipment landed), and almost certainly the first crash! Take one excited new owner, no previous experience of this class and weight of quad, more inertia than expected, a good breeze and some unfortunately placed trees. Plus an audience of 10 year olds for good measure. The aircraft spent all night about 50ft up this tree before a storm blew it down. I lost one rubber damper but no other damage whatsoever and flew the aircraft next day without incident. I still fly it now. 🙂 Not sure a Vision Plus or a P2 with H3-3D would have fared so well – the original DJI Phantom Vision is a tough old warhorse… Stay clear of trees for your first few flights!
My “On the Kitchen Table” videos are mainly aimed at newcomers to multirotors, quadcopters, drones and UAVs, particularly to the DJI product range, and the Phantom line in particular. I have how to’s, product reviews, tips, tricks, hints and information for beginners and those in the early stages of the hobby. I film “on the kitchen table” to show people that, like me, you don’t need a workshop and an array of specialist equipment and years of experience to get started and progress with flying these amazing aircraft and enjoying making great aerial videos and stills. So if you have bought, or are thinking of buying, a DJI Phantom, Phantom FC40, Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+ or Plus, or even building your own DJI Flamewheel F450 or F550, we can do it… on the kitchen table!
