How to factory reset your DJI Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal

September 21, 2014

If a firmware update appears to have bricked your gimbal or made it go crazy here’s a reset procedure to try that might save you having to send to the DJI service centre…

A small percentage of the H3-3D gimbals seems to “brick” sometimes when a new firmware update is applied. Instead of having to ship it back to DJI to be repaired this simple procedure could help by factory resetting your gimbal, allowing you to re-flash the firmware and hopefully fixing the problem. If the gimbal is still dead or going crazy after this then the problem is probably deeper than a bad firmware flash and it probably does need to go in. But if this saves a few people having to do that, great! As with all things, you do this at your own risk, although the procedure has been published by DJI.

My “On the Kitchen Table” videos are mainly aimed at newcomers to multirotors, quadcopters, drones and UAVs, particularly to the DJI product range, and the Phantom line in particular. I have how to’s, product reviews, tips, tricks, hints and information for beginners and those in the early stages of the hobby. I film “on the kitchen table” to show people that, like me, you don’t need a workshop and an array of specialist equipment and years of experience to get started and progress with flying these amazing aircraft and enjoying making great aerial videos and stills. So if you have bought, or are thinking of buying, a DJI Phantom, Phantom FC40, Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+ or Plus, or even building your own DJI Flamewheel F450 or F550, we can do it… on the kitchen table!
