Product Review! Stayblcam hand-held stabilizer for GoPro, phone, action camera

February 13, 2015

I funded the Stayblcam on Kickstarter last year, inspired by a desire to take ground footage that wasn’t shaky to complement aerial stuff! So it’s arrived and I give it a spin. See

I always thought some carefully chosen ground-based footage could lend a bit of extra flavour to an aerial video, but I’m not making professional vids and so lugging a tripod and dedicated camera around wasn’t interesting. When I saw the Stayblcam on Kickstarter, and that it would take phones, GoPro or similar AND small compacts then I thought it would fit the bill. It’s been delivered and I have a look at it in this video, including some footage I took on the way back from collecting it from the post office!

My “On the Kitchen Table” videos are mainly aimed at newcomers to multirotors, quadcopters, drones and UAVs, particularly to the DJI product range, and the Phantom line in particular. I have how to’s, product reviews, tips, tricks, hints and information for beginners and those in the early stages of the hobby. I film “on the kitchen table” to show people that, like me, you don’t need a workshop and an array of specialist equipment and years of experience to get started and progress with flying these amazing aircraft and enjoying making great aerial videos and stills. So if you have bought, or are thinking of buying, a DJI Phantom, Phantom FC40, Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+ or Plus, or even building your own DJI Flamewheel F450 or F550, we can do it… on the kitchen table!
